The Marine Museum of Manitoba is proud to announce Fort Distributors Ltd. as its first-ever Platinum Season Sponsor. This landmark partnership marks a new chapter in the museum’s growing Sponsorship Program, launched last year as part of its long-term vision to build a year-round facility to preserve and showcase Manitoba’s marine heritage.
Founded in the 1920s and still owned by the Jehle family, Fort Distributors Ltd. has been a cornerstone of St. Andrews, Selkirk, and the surrounding region for nearly a century. Known for their dedication to the community and significant local investments, the Jehle family’s support is a natural fit for the museum’s mission of preserving history, inspiring learning, and building community pride.
“The Marine Museum is one of Selkirk’s most unique and visible tourism assets, and partners like Fort Distributors make it possible for us to continue growing and improving,” said Shaylene Nordal, Museum Manager. “Their support helps us preserve our ships, enhance visitor experiences, create summer jobs for young people, and boost tourism in our region.”
The Sponsorship Program connects local businesses with high-profile recognition opportunities, while directly contributing to the preservation of Canada’s largest collection of inland waterway vessels. The museum welcomed several new sponsors this year, but Fort Distributors’ Platinum-level commitment represents the highest level of annual support, including prominent logo placement on site, in marketing materials, and online.
“The Jehle family and Fort Distributors have shown time and again that they believe in the Selkirk and District community,” said John Buffie, Chair of the Museum’s Fundraising Committee. “Their investment in our museum helps ensure this piece of Manitoba’s history continues to inspire future generations.”
For the Marine Museum, strategic partnerships like this are critical to realizing its bold vision. “We are building a community of supporters who share our dream of a four-season, indoor facility that will secure the future of these historic ships,” said Duane Nicol, Board Chair. “Sponsors like Fort Distributors are not just supporting a museum – they’re investing in the region’s cultural identity, its economy, and its future.”
In addition to Fort Distributors Ltd., the Marine Museum gratefully acknowledges its 2025 sponsors: Selkirk GM, Selkirk Home Hardware Building Centre, Purvis Enterprises, The Foot Shop, Packer’s Women’s Fashion, Aaron’s No Frills, Riverboat Family Restaurant, Access Credit Union, Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, Selkirk Travel, and Flying Pig Patch. Together, these businesses are helping preserve Manitoba’s nautical heritage while supporting tourism, youth employment, and community pride.
